HEATHERWICK HOUSE

ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING (B.Sc) - AUC

In this project, it was required to obtain a firm understanding of the assigned architect, and to embody their voice and design a house in their spirit.

THE 'NAIVE' THOUGHT PHILOSOPHY

This philosophy emphasizes the effect of simple ideas on design nowadays. It shows that simple ideas do not lack depth and could actually form a high level of complexity out of an obvious thought.

Heatherwick experiments with new materials and common ones but used in unorthodox ways. He is constantly pushing the limitations of materials and their use. I tried to do the same with my experiential models exploring new forms and possibilities.

CONTINUOUS - HARMONIOUS - SCULPTURAL

The literal integration between the surrounding and the house by the dragging of the physical connection between land and sea (the deck) is an idea which would fall under the umbrella of Heatherwick's philosophy 'the naive thought'.
